Gators snap at Ducks

HUTTO – The Taylor Lady Ducks playoff journey came to an end Friday, May 5, by the Gateway College Preparatory Gators at Hutto Memorial Stadium. A strong first inning helped the Gators shutout the Lady Ducks 12-0 in Friday’s game.

Eagles fly past Lions

LAGO VISTA – The Granger Lions took on the Johnson City Eagles in the first round of the playoffs in a three-game series. The first game was played Thursday, May 4, and the second was played on Friday, May 5, both at Lago Vista High School, in which the Eagles swept the series.

Lady Lions advance in playoffs

ROSEBUD – The Granger Lady Lions have advanced to the third round of the playoffs after defeating the Leon Cougars Friday, May 5. The Lady Lions gave up the Cougars’ lone run in the first inning and went on to win the game 11-1 in order to advance to the next round.

Lady Ducks' track coach rides into the sunset

BULLARD – The Lady Ducks team competed Regional Meet in and it was the last track meet Shelli Cobb will coach at Taylor High School. “My final track meet is in the books, and I was so happy to be able to share it with these amazing young women and my two fabulous assistant coaches, Kim Clifton and Jay Reed,” Cobb said.

Ducks deal out statement win

WALLER – The Taylor Ducks started their playoff journey at Waller High School Thursday, May 4, and only needed five innings to get the job done. The Ducks faced Houston Scarborough in round one and shut them out on their way to an 18-0 victory.

Jarvis Anderson dominates regional

BULLARD – After another outstanding track season, Jarvis Anderson is headed to the state meet looking to add more medals to his collection. Anderson’s finishing in second place in his first at the regional meet, his performance solidified his spot at state.

Tigerettes are regional Champs

KINGSVILLE – The Thrall Tigerettes track team were crowned reginal champions after the regional meet Friday and Saturday, April 28-29 at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville. The Tigerettes took first place as a team with several athletes qualifying for the state meet.

Lady Lions claim bi-district

LAGO VISTA – The Granger Lady Lions have added yet another trophy to the case at Granger High School after capturing the bidistrict championship Monday. The Lady Lions defeated the Johnson City Eagles two games to one in a three-game series to capture the title.

Hippos win by one in season finale

JARRELL – The Hutto Hippos defeated the Harker Heights Knights Monday, May 1 to gain some extra momentum before starting playoffs. The game came down to the wire with the Knights making a late push to try to win the game, but the Hippos’ defense stood tall and was able to secure the 7-6 win.

Lady Lions edge Eagles in playoffs

HUTTO – The Granger Lady Lions’ late push sends them past the Johnson City Eagles during their playoff game Thursday, April 27. The Lady Lions scored three runs in the sixth inning to put the game just out of reach for the Eagles to win their first playoff game of the season.

Lady Ducks post shutout in playoff opener

The Taylor Lady Ducks started off their playoff run with a bang against the Furr Brahmans (Houston) Friday, April 28. The Lady Ducks defeated the Brahmans 12-0 and showed that they are here to play.

Lions eliminate Tigers 6-5

The Granger Lions (14-11 overall, 11-6 District 27-2A) spotted the Thrall Tigers (18-12, 10-7) an early 3-0 lead only to rally for a 6-5 win to earn the fourth playoff spot from District 27-2A. The teams completed the regular season tied with identical 10-6 marks in district play and split their regular season games.

Hippos’ loss keeps them in second place

HUTTO – The Hutto Hippos took on the Midway Panthers (Waco) with a chance to tie their district records and move up to first place. The Panthers would take an 8-4 win Saturday, April 29, to solidify themselves in the top spot of the district and keep the Hippos in second place.

Hutto player named to the All-Star game

HUTTO – Hutto Hippos senior Dylon Richardson’s phenomenal senior season continues as he has been named as a participant in the Cen-Tex All-Star Game Saturday, May 6. Richardson was a big part of the Hippos success this past basketball season as a senior leader and has racked up plenty of other awards along with playing in the All-Star game.
