THRALL — The Thrall High School varsity volleyball team completed another strong season and there were many Tigerettes who were selected as 2A-District 26 award winners.
Tigerettes senior standout Melaina Grissom got the highest honor of all players as she was named Most Valuable Player of the district amongst players from Thrall, Thorndale High School, Granger High School, Holland High School and Bartlett High School. Fellow senior Dezi Lopez, who just last week signed her National Letter of Intent to play collegiate softball at Sam Houston State University, was selected as the Co-Defensive Most Valuable Player alongside senior Ashlynn Gerig of Holland.
First-team selections for Thrall were junior Emily Holybee, junior Amber Kevil, sophomore Brynn Leschber and sophomore Nevaeh Irvin.
Thrall had a secondteam selection with senior Karly Pesantes, while sophomore Kinley Hoffman and freshman Ellie Schmidt were honorable mentions. Selected as academic alldistrict for the Tigerettes were Pesantes, Lopez, Holybee, Kevil, Leschber, Hoffman, junior Julie Crabb, sophomore Kayla Moellenburg and freshman Brenna Tucek.
Thrall finished an incredible 2023 campaign under Head Coach Bethany Grissom last Friday with a loss in four sets to Johnson City High School in the 2A regional semifinals held at neutral site Brenham High School.
