Ducks' early lead sends them passed La Grange

The Taylor Ducks continued their dominant district run after defeating the La Grange Leopards 7-2 at home Tuesday night. The Ducks jumped out to an early lead that helped them to push past their district rival for the win.

All smiles before entering the ring, Destiny “Too Sweet” Jones dropped the smile and her opponent Saturday, April 1 in Houston. In a match hosted by Next FightUp, Jones (4-1-0) defeated Clarice “Reese” Morales(0-2-1) in a unanimous decision at the Summer Creek High Arena.

Pirates continue hot start

The Taylor Area Baseball and Softball (TABS) 6U Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago White Sox last Saturday, April 1, with a 25-11 victory. The Pirates relied on their potent offense to claim their fourth win of the season with almost every player recording a hit in Saturday’s victory.

Lions claw past Tigers

BREMOND – The Granger Lions spoiled the Bremond Tigers ability to enjoy home field by capturing their fifth district win of the season. The Lions picked up a 7-2 win over the Tigers, after their offense found a rhythm late in the district matchup.

Thrall holds off Milano

THRALL – The Thrall Tigers (13-6 overall, 5-3 District 27-2A) held off a seventh inning rally by the Milano Eagles for a 3-2 win Tuesday night. The win keeps the Tigers in fourth place as they battle for a playoff spot.

Win sits Hippos in playoff contention

HUTTO – The Hutto Hippos captured their third district win after defeating the Temple Wildcats, and now comfortably sit in a playoff spot. The Hippos defeated the Wildcats 5-3 in a close game at home, but they were able to bare down and come away with a victory.

Ducks flying high after sweeping Caldwell

The Taylor Ducks completed the season series sweep of the Caldwell Hornets Friday, March 31, fueled by a total team effort. The Ducks walked away with a 10-0 victory to increase their win streak to six games as they are just flying past the competition in district play.

GRANGER – The Granger Lady Lions are now enjoying a five-game winning streak after defeating the Milano Eagles Friday, March 31, on their home field. The Lady Lions would get an early 2-0 lead, then looked to junior pitcher Payton Filla to close out the game.

AUSTIN – Several Taylor Duck athletes put their best foot forward, some setting new personal best, against tough competition at the 95th annual Texas Relays March 29 – April 1. The meet may not have been filled with hardware and top-five finishes like the Ducks are accustomed to, but they showed a ton of heart at this meet.

THRALL – Three Thrall Tiger pitchers combined for a no-hitter Saturday in a 22-1 blasting of the Chilton Pirates. Carson Ball and Bobby Clark combined to drive in seven runs to help the Tigers (13-6 overall, 5-3 District 27-2A) to the win.

Milano rally sinks Tigerettes

For the second time this season, the Milano Lady Eagles spotted the Thrall Tigerettes (11-12-2 overall, 5-5 District 27-2A) a lead, only to storm back to get the win. On Saturday, Thrall built a 4-0 lead through three innings, but a five-run fifth gave Milano the lead and the Lady Eagles held on for a 6-4 win.

Ducks edge out Caldwell for second district win

EVAN HALE evan.hale@taylor press.net CALDWELL – The Taylor Ducks varsity baseball team’s hot start continued Tuesday March 28 after picking up a win against the Caldwell Hornets. Coming off a 12-0 win over the Manor New Tech Titans, the Ducks battled the Hornets in a close game where the Ducks came away with a 2-1 win.
