ROUND ROCK — The Taylor High School girls varsity basketball team suffered its toughest loss of the season to date this past Friday as the Lady Ducks fell 61-41 on the road to Cedar Ridge High School.
“Much needed game for the girls and myself,” Taylor Head Coach Lawrence Bailey said Saturday. “We learned a lot from this game. All positive to help us get better. Got a big week of games this week. Excited to see how the girls grow after this tough loss last night.”
The Lady Ducks fought very hard against the 6A Lady Raiders but played from behind for a vast majority of the night and could not get it going enough offensively.
Taylor got doubledigit scoring from the duo of sophomore Madyson Mitchell and senior Ansley Reed.
Mitchell had 11 points and nine rebounds, while Reed also scored in double figures with 11 points and six rebounds of her own.
Lady Ducks senior Asia Zachary added five points and five rebounds, while junior Sophia Fisher had five points and three assists in the loss to the Lady Raiders.
After the Lady Ducks (4-5 overall record) play Pflugerville Weiss at home Tuesday night, they will host a tournament Dec. 8-9 with games over the weekend against Lockhart High School, Lake Belton High School and Fredericksburg High School.
