Tigers dominate tournament

THRALL — The Thrall Tigers rolled over their three opponents in the Thrall Invitational Tournament last weekend. The Tigers averaged 84 points per game against the Georgetown junior varsity, Rosebud-Lott and Thrall’s second, mixed team. In the opening round, the Tigers (6-0) raced out to a 45-21 halftime lead and coasted to a 79-50 win over the Georgetown Eagles’ JV. Breken Proctor matched his season-high with 24 points to pace the Tigers.

Dawson Meiske added 18, while Steven Walker and Ethan Dahl scored 14 and 10 points respectively. On Friday, the Tigers squared off with the Rosebud-Lott Cougars for the second time this season. Thrall led 35-20 at the end of the first half and pulled away for a 70-31 win.

Thrall, which has enjoyed multiple players scoring in double figures this season, continued the trend with Walker dropping in 18, while Proctor and Meiske scored 16 and 15, respectively.

The two Thrall teams faced each other on Saturday, with the main varsity team rolling to a 104-24 win. Payton Gillmore dropped in a season-high 27 points, including a trio of treys, while Proctor hit for 22. Meiske dumped in 18 points for the varsity, while Walker and Dahl scored 16 each. Ty Urbis led the second team with nine points. The varsity squad went off for 34 points in the final period.

The second Thrall squad picked up a win against Rosebud-Lott on Thursday, topping the Cougars 33-23. Ethan Boecker dropped in a dozen points to pace the Tigers.

And, on Friday, the Tigers dropped a 77-28 decision to Georgetown. The Tigers trailed 32-22 at the half, but the Eagles outscored Thrall 45-6 in the second half. Jaden Spence scored 12 in the loss for the Tigers.

The varsity Tigers were back in action Tuesday when they traveled to Franklin to face the Lions, with hopes of keeping their undefeated streak intact. They will play in the Florence tournament facing Holland and Killeen Chaparral’s JV Thursday and will see Rosebud-Lott again Friday.
