GRANGER — The Granger High School boys continued its strong start to the 2023-24 regular season under Head Coach Chaston Kubacak as the Lions handled business Dec. 5 at home with a 39-33 victory over the Bluejays of Snook High School.
This team continues to pride itself on very strong defense as Granger showcased that throughout the night against Snook.
With the Lions up 12-11 after the first quarter, they used an important 12-3 run in the second quarter to take a 24-14 lead into halftime. Although the Bluejays got it to within five points at the end of the third quarter, the Lions were able to keep them at bay the rest of the way to hang on for the six-point win.
Granger was again led by senior Trae Herrera with a teamhigh 14 points on a trio of made threepointers, seven steals, seven rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Kael Jackson had seven points and three steals, while junior Isaac Campos added six points of his own.
Lions sophomore Caleb Tucker was very active on the glass as he finished with a team-high 11 rebounds to go with four points, two assists and two steals against Snook.
After Granger finishes up over the weekend at the Florence Tournament, the Lions will be back in action on the road Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. against Moody High School.
