Lions walk it off in season finale

GRANGER – On Tuesday, April 25, the Granger Lions took on the Holland Hornets in a back-and-forth contest that came down to the wire with the Lions coming out on top. The Granger Lions senior Nate Tucker smacked a ball over the fence to give the Lions a 11-10 victory over the Holland Hornets in the final game of the season.

Lady Ducks Area track meet results

LA GRANGE – The Taylor Lady Ducks competed at the area track meet in La Grange Friday, April 21, and had a few athletes qualify for the regional meet. The Lady Ducks continued to show improvement, because even though not everyone on the team qualified for the regional meet, they still recorded some new personal bests.

Tigerettes top Lassies in season finale

THRALL – While the season didn’t go quite as planned for the Thrall Tigerettes, they did finish their season on a high note, topping the Bartlett Lassies 5-1 Friday night. The Tigerettes finish the season with a 14-14-2 overall record and an 8-8 District 27-2A mark.

Hippos' complete series sweep of Wolves

PFLUGERVILLE – The Hutto Hippos developed a strong lead halfway through game two of their two-game series against the Pflugerville Weiss Wolves Tuesday, April 25, and rode that momentum all the way to a victory.

Speedy Ducks grab district titles

The Taylor Ducks boys and girls track team competed at the District 22-4A Track Meet at Taylor High School and they walked away with a couple of district championship wins. The Ducks also had multiple athletes qualify for the area meet, putting them one step closer to the state championship.

Ducks trample Buffaloes in extra innings

GIDDINGS – Sound defense and timely offense helped the Taylor Ducks fly past the Giddings Buffaloes for their 19th win of the season. The Ducks overcame the big obstacle of giving up six runs in the fourth inning to take home a 10-7 win on the road.

Hall leads Lions past Tigers

GRANGER – Thomas Hall’s walk-off single to left in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Granger Lions (10-9 overall, 7-4 District 27-2A) a 4-3 win over the Thrall Tigers (14-7, 6-5) Tuesday night. The win also gave the Lions sole possession of fourth place in the race for the playoffs.

Tigerettes rally past Thorndale

THRALL – Sometimes, one seemingly small mistake, can have big consequences. Tuesday night, the Thorndale Lady Dogs committed just one error, but it proved very costly as the Thrall Tigerettes (12-13-2 overall, 6-6 District 27-2A) scored four runs on that one error and rallied past the Lady Dogs 8-6.

Hippos pick up back-to-back wins against Bulldawgs

HUTTO – District wins are very important to teams this late in the season, and the Hutto Hippos just picked up back-to-back wins to help distance themselves in the district standings. The Hippos defeated the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs Monday and Tuesday night to slide comfortably in second place in the district.

Hornets sting Lady Ducks with offensive surge

The Taylor Lady Ducks gave up 10 runs in the seventh inning to the Caldwell Hornets at the Duck Pond Tuesday, April 4. That run helped the Lady Hornets pick up a 17-9 win over Taylor.
