6U Pirates finish season undefeated

The Taylor Area Baseball and Softball 6U Pittsburgh Pirates finished the season undefeated Saturday with a 19-17 win over the 6U Minnesota Twins. The game started off rocky with a triple play in the bottom of the first made by the Twins’ defense.

Taylor, Thrall football compete at 7-on-7 competitions

The Taylor High School and Thrall High School varsity football teams were in action on Saturday at separate 7-on-7 scrimmage sites in Burnet and Lott, respectively. TAYLOR DUCKS Under first-year head coach Earven Flowers, the Ducks competed against Gatesville High School, Burnet and Rockdale High School.

Pitching propels Ducks over Salado

GEORGETOWN – The Taylor High School varsity baseball team began the 4A regional quarterfinals versus Salado High School Thursday, May 18, with a gritty 5-0 shutout in game 1 of the best-ofthree series held at East View High School. Ducks junior starting pitcher Chris Perez was consistent all game for Taylor as he threw a complete-game shutout on 102 pitches, with a whopping 11 strikeouts, three walks issued and just two hits allowed on the night.

HUTTO – The Taylor Ducks now lead 1-0 in their three-game series against the Robinson (Waco) Rockets after winning game on Thursday, May 11, at Hutto High School. They needed all seven innings to get the job done.

MUMFORD – The Granger Lady Lions defeated district rivals Bremond Tigers Thursday, May 11, to advance to the fourth round of the playoffs. It is hard enough to beat a district rival in the regular season, but in playoffs the intensity is raised, but the Lady Lions only needed one run to get it done.

GRANGER – The Granger Lions’ baseball team’s season may have come to an end, but still have a reason to celebrate with senior Nate Tucker being selected to the all-star game. The game will be played June 17 at 10 a.m.

Anderson takes state meet by storm

AUSTIN – Jarvis Anderson was the lone Duck to represent Taylor High School at the UIL Class State Track and Field Meet Thursday, May 11 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. He would compete in four different events at the State Meet, giving him plenty of opportunity to show why he is one of the best in the state.

Thrall senior selected to All-Star Game

THRALL – Miranda Richter was one of the biggest reasons why the Thrall Tigerettes were able to have a successful season this year, and now she will be playing in an allstar game. On June 3 at 3 p.m., at Schulenburg High School, Richter will play against some of the best players in the state and get a chance to showcase her talent and leadership.

Hippos lose game three to Eagles

HUTTO – The Hutto Hippos went toe-to-toe with the Lake Ridge Eagles in an elimination game Saturday, May 6, and it took extra innings to get it done. The Hippos would unfortunately fall to the Eagles in 5-4 in eight innings to end their season, but they went down swinging.

Gators snap at Ducks

HUTTO – The Taylor Lady Ducks playoff journey came to an end Friday, May 5, by the Gateway College Preparatory Gators at Hutto Memorial Stadium. A strong first inning helped the Gators shutout the Lady Ducks 12-0 in Friday’s game.
