MOODY — The Granger High School boys varsity basketball were on the road Tuesday, Dec. 12, and fell with a gritty 54-48 loss to non-district foe Moody High School.
During the back-and-forth affair between the Lions and the host Bearcats, Granger played solid team defense that kept them within striking distance.
In the loss, Granger junior Isaac Campos helped lead the way for the Lions with a team-high 15, a trio of threepointers and two rebounds. Lions senior Trae Herrera had 14 points, with three shots made from behind the arc, while sophomore Caleb Tucker had a solid allaround game with eight points on two three-pointers, seven rebounds, two steals and one assist.
Over the previous weekend, Granger also got a trio of wins at the Florence Tournament as they defeated Central Texas Christian School 59-38, edged Florence High School 27-20, knocked off Rosebud-Lott High School 51-27 and then fell last Saturday in the tournament finale 51-37 to Holland High School.
The Lions, under Head Coach Chaston Kubacak, now have a 7-4 overall record and were scheduled to host a nondistrict home game Friday versus Troy High School. Granger will then begin 2A-District 27 play Dec. 19 as the Lions will stay at home to take on the Tigers of Thrall High School.
