Taylor High School varsity football first-year Head Coach Earven Flowers announced Tuesday the 4A-1 District 13 all-district selections for a Ducks team that reached the playoffs for a second consecutive season.
Superlative all-district awards for the Ducks were senior Jackson Meller as the Special Teams Player of the Year and junior Kaddy Maravilla as the Defensive Lineman of the Year.
Taylor’s potent offense from 2023 was well-represented as first-team selections were senior quarterback Joshua Mikulencak, senior wide receiver Jacob Mikulencak and senior offensive lineman Syris Corley. First-team all-district picks on defense were junior outside linebacker Nicholas Treuter, senior defensive lineman Nikolas Garza-Walker, senior linebacker Alejandro Randle and senior cornerback Marcus Jackson.
Second-team all-district award winners for the Ducks on offense were senior wide receiver Jordan Pickerill, senior tight end Braylan Alderete, junior offensive lineman Ernest Alderete, junior offensive lineman Harrison Tate and senior kicker Isaac Castro. On defense, named all-district were junior linebacker Jerrell Roberson, junior cornerback Ethan Flagg, senior safety Luke Thompson and senior linebacker Jaden Rush.
Honorable mentions for Taylor included senior running back Kyetrevius Sanford, sophomore defensive lineman Ke’Zian Simien, junior offensive lineman Eric Camacho, junior linebacker Matthew Rangel and senior offensive lineman Hesston Cranor.
Academic all-district selections for the Ducks included senior wide receiver Devin Valdez, senior linebacker Brandt Whitlow, senior linebacker Luciano Arias, senior offensive lineman Diego Villarruel, Braylan Alderete, Ernest Alderete, Meller, Rush, Thompson, Maravilla and Rangel.
