DUBLIN – The Taylor Lady Ducks powerlifting team competed in the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association 4A-D1 Region 2 Championships on Friday, Mar. 3, and finished in third place as a team.

The Thrall Tigerettes (7-5-2) played in their final tournament of the season over the weekend. The Tigerettes split their four games in the threeday event.

GRANGER – The Granger Lady Lions basketball season was memorable for the players, coaches and fans, but it is about to get better. In addition to the Lady Lions making the playoffs after everyone counted them out, they also had a couple of players make the all-district teams.

Raelynn Johnson, Autree Kelm, and Riley Luton each drove in two runs, and Miley Pokorny scattered seven hits over seven innings and struck out 10, to lead the Thrall Tigerettes (5-5-2 overall, 1-0 District 27-2A) to an 8-4 district-opening win over Rosebud-Lott Tuesday night.

It was a case of too much power against too little offense Tuesday night as the Thrall Tigers (1-1) rocked the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles (0-2), 32-3. The Tigers scored early and often and thumped the Eagles’ pitching staff.

[email protected] The Taylor Ducks varsity baseball team turned waves to ripples in their season opener. The Ducks started their season in dominant fashion as they shut out and mercy-ruled Austin Waves 10-0 last Monday, Feb.

[email protected] The Taylor Ducks varsity soccer team continued their dominant run picking up their eighth win in the district and their 13th in a row. Los Patos are now ranked seventh in the state according to the UIL state coaches’ rankings.

[email protected] CALDWELL – A week removed from winning the Tigerette Invitational, the Thrall Tigerettes (4-5-2) ran into stiff competition at the Caldwell tournament over the weekend. The Tigerettes posted a 1-3-1 record in the three-day event.
