Lions move to 4-1 in district play

GRANGER – The Granger Lions got their second win in a row Wednesday, March 22, defeating the Milano Eagles for their fourth district win of the season. The Lions would come away with a gritty 5-3 to improve their district record, and move themselves into third place.

Hornets edge Tigers in extra innings

HOLLAND – Jose Arzola’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth lifted the Holland Hornets (12-4 overall, 4-0 District 27-2A) to a 3-2 win over the Thrall Tigers (10-5, 2-2) Wednesday night. “It was a well-played game by both teams,” said Thrall Coach Aaron Vanecek.

Big second inning lifts Granger past Thrall

GRANGER – Montana Moore and Alex Harwell each drove in a pair of runs, and the Granger Lady Lions erupted for six runs in the second inning, then held on for a 7-5 win over the Thrall Tigerettes. Thrall was first to get on the board with a run in the top of the first.

WACO – The Taylor Lady Ducks traveled to Waco La Vega to compete in the George Dixon Relays on Friday, March 17. The Lady Ducks had more than just the spirit of competition to deal with Friday as they were also fighting the cold weather throughout the relays.

Taylor area youth baseball update

On a chilly Saturday morning, the Taylor Area Baseball and Softball (TABS) 6U Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Minnesota Twins with a 20-12 victory. The Pirates relied on their heavy hitting to help them secure a win, as they seemingly hit everything but singles.

Big third inning pushes Thrall past Granger

THRALL – The Thrall Tigers defeated the Granger Lions in the first district meeting of the season on Friday, March 17, at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers’ big third inning gave them just enough of an edge on the Lions to take an 11-6 win in the district matchup.

Tigerettes sink Pirates

THRALL – It only took three innings for the Thrall Tigerettes to take down the Chilton Pirates to capture their third win in district play. On Thursday, March 16, the Tigerettes defeated the Pirates by a score of 18-3 as they move back into fourth place in the district.

Lady Hippos beat Temple for first district win

TEMPLE – Consistent hitting and sound defense were the keys to victory for the Hutto Lady Hippos Tuesday, March 14, when they took on the Temple Wildcats. The Lady Hippos came away with a 10-3 on the road, and it was also their first win in their district season.

Thrall tennis team earns fourth place

WACO – The Thrall varsity tennis team competed in the Texas Tennis Coaches Association 2A and Under State Team Tennis Tournament this past weekend, March 10-11, in Waco, and came away with the fourth-place prize.

Lady Hippos announces new volleyball coach

HUTTO – The Hutto Lady Hippos volleyball team will be under new leadership as they have announced a new head coach for the 2023 fall season. Jessica Martinez was recognized and introduced at the Hutto High School gym as the new volleyball head coach for the Lady Hippos.

LOS ANGELES – In something you might see in a Hollywood script, two recent, local high school softball stars met again on the dirt diamond, only this time, it was 1,400 miles away. Lindsay O’Dell, fouryear Taylor Lady Ducks starting pitcher, and alltime strikeout leader, is now a freshman pitcher at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles, California.

BARTLETT – The Granger Lions took on the Bartlett Bulldogs in Bartlett Tuesday, March 14, and extended their district record to 2-0. The Lions defeated the Bulldogs 21-3 to get their second district win of the season, and as the score reflects, it was complete dominance from the Lions.

Ducks have strong showing at home

The Taylor Ducks tennis team had the majority of their members compete for a medal at their home tournament. Rylee Michna won the girls single bracket for her 6th tournament win of the season.
