The Taylor High School girls varsity basketball team under Head Coach Lawrence Bailey put it all together Tuesday, Nov. 28 in a lopsided 81-
33 win at home against Bastrop High School for the Lady Ducks’ second straight overall victory.
Taylor played
a complete game for four quarters as the Lady Ducks dominated the visiting Lady Bears from start to finish and scored a season-high 81 points. As a team, Taylor was able to showcase its very talented roster and put it all together as one of the best squads in the area.
“All my girls on the team scored last night,” Bailey said. “It was a fun game to watch our girls that don’t play much play a lot last night. They got to showcase what they bring to our team. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out.”
The Lady Ducks were led by a 22-point scoring outburst from sophomore Madyson Mitchell, who shot 10-of-14 from the field to go along with seven steals, five assists and two blocks. Taylor senior Asia Zachary had 14 points with six steals and five assists, while fellow senior Ansley Reed also scored in double figures with 11 points and had four steals on defense.
Tiana Candee, the only freshman on the Lady Ducks’ squad, added nine points and three blocked shots while the junior duo of Sophia Fisher and Molli Kennick had six points apiece.
After Taylor travels Friday night to take on Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock, the Lady Ducks will return home Dec. 5 to host Pflugerville Weiss High School and then Dec. 8-9 to host the Taylor Tournament.
