The Taylor High School boys varsity basketball team returns to action this week following the Thanksgiving break with plenty of games on the horizon.
After Taylor travels Tuesday night to take on non-district foe Burnet High School, the Ducks will be in for some tournament action Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 at the Waco ISD Classic.
Entering the week, Taylor senior standout Treos Richardson has done it all for the Ducks in the first three games as he is averaging a team-high 29 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, 2.7 blocks and 2.3 steals per contest. Ducks junior Eli Lawrence is second on the team in scoring at 6.3 points and seven rebounds per game, while fellow junior T.J. Whybrew is averaging six points and four rebounds.
The Waco ISD Classic will start Thursday morning at 9 a.m. with the Ducks in Pool B taking on the Lions of Waco High School and the next game at 1 p.m. against the Trojans of Dallas Madison High School.
Taylor will then play Friday at 1 p.m. against the Bears of Austin Brentwood Christian School and conclude the night at 6:30 p.m. against the Chaparrals of Fort Worth Wyatt High School. Saturday will have teams from Pool A and Pool B matched against each other based on how well they did on Thursday and Friday in their respective pool play.
The Ducks varsity squad will then have a non-district road game Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Wimberley High School before returning home Dec. 7-9 to host the Taylor Tournament. Killeen Chaparral High School and Georgetown Gateway Preparatory Academy will be the Ducks’ opponents Nov. 7 and Taylor will take on Austin Royals Homeschool and Bastrop High School the following day.
