THRALL — Four Thrall Tigerettes scored in double figures Friday night, led by Ashlyn Jarosek’s 16 points, and the Tigerettes (2-1) rolled to a 62-37 win over the Riesel Lady Indians (2-1).
The Tigerettes spotted the Lady Indians an 8- 4 lead in the first five minutes of the game, but the remainder of the period belonged to Thrall. The Tigerettes outscored the Lady Indians 16-5 over the final 3:30 of the first quarter, thanks to a swarming defense, and grabbed a 20-13 lead. The Thrall defense forced 13 Riesel turnovers in the opening period.
Thrall continued to keep the defensive pressure on Riesel in the second period. The Tigerettes turned six second-period turnovers into eight points, and Jarosek dropped in a trio of three-point shots that allowed the Tigerettes to outscore Riesel 16-10 in the period, and take a 36-23 lead into the half.
The third quarter saw both teams shoot a little sluggish, but despite the slow quarter for the Tigerettes, Riesel managed to only shave two points off the lead and trailed 43-32 entering the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Thrall’s defensive speed continued to wreak havoc on the Lady Indians. Seven turnovers, along with the Tigerettes’ fastpaced offense allowed the Tigerettes to put 19 points on the board. Meanwhile, the defense held Riesel to just five points over the final eight minutes.
Thrall shot 35% from the field for the game, and a blistering 50% in the fourth quarter. The Tigerettes also hit 11 of 17 shots from the freethrow line.
In addition to Jarosek’s 16 points, the Tigerettes also got 11 points each from Kinley Hoffman and CeCe Walker, and 10 points from Avery Ochoa. Hoffman and Walker also combined for 15 rebounds.
