GRANGER — The Granger High School girls varsity basketball team picked up its second straight victory Tuesday, Nov. 14 as the Lady Lions cruised to a 38-18 victory at home against Chilton High School.
The Lady Lions were again led by terrific team defense as Granger has allowed just 40 points combined over its last two games, which included a 45-22 win Nov. 11 over Axtell High School. In the 20-point victory Tuesday night over the Chilton, it was Granger senior Montana Moore who led the way again with a team-high 12 points, four assists, two steals and two rebounds in the win against the Lady Pirates.
Lady Lions senior Destiny Cotten also scored in double figures with 10 points with two three-pointers made, four rebounds, one steal and one assist. Also making an impact for Granger was junior Sofia Bernal with six points on two shots made from behind the arc and seven rebounds, while senior Clarissa Miller had a solid all-around game for Granger with four points, four steals, four assists and two rebounds.
Now with a 2-2 overall record early in the 2023-24 season under Granger Head Coach Kendall Cotten, the Lady Lions will look to string some more wins together Nov. 18 hosting Mart High School, Nov. 20 on the road at Lexington High School and back home Nov. 21 against Bruceville-Eddy High School.
