Lady Lions advance in playoffs

ROSEBUD – The Granger Lady Lions have advanced to the third round of the playoffs after defeating the Leon Cougars Friday, May 5. The Lady Lions gave up the Cougars’ lone run in the first inning and went on to win the game 11-1 in order to advance to the next round.

Fry’s Fun Farm brought an assortment of farm animals for a petting zoo at Blackland Prairie Day Saturday, May 6 at Heritage Square, 400 N. Main St. Bunnies laid beside buckets of ice water for a respite on a hot day.

Developers gamble on Co-Op completion

HUTTO – Developer MA Partners and the city staff have re-negotiated an agreement for developing the Co-op District (420 State Highway 79) with a new twist – a provision to give the land back to the city if a specific construction deadline is not met. The new terms were approved by the City Council at the May 4 meeting.

Dwayne Ariola – Dwayne Ariola was re-elected for his third term on the Taylor City Council in the At-large seat.
Local incumbents remain in office

The results are in for local elections, and the people have chosen to keep incumbents in office. At the city, Dwayne Ariola wins his election with 63.50% of the vote, which means there is no need for a run-off.

Festival fills Heritage Square On Saturday, May 6, people had the opportunity to pet a chicken or a tractor at the annual Blackland Prairie Day festival. This year, the event was held in Heritage Square, rather than along Main Street.

Lady Ducks' track coach rides into the sunset

BULLARD – The Lady Ducks team competed Regional Meet in and it was the last track meet Shelli Cobb will coach at Taylor High School. “My final track meet is in the books, and I was so happy to be able to share it with these amazing young women and my two fabulous assistant coaches, Kim Clifton and Jay Reed,” Cobb said.

Ducks deal out statement win

WALLER – The Taylor Ducks started their playoff journey at Waller High School Thursday, May 4, and only needed five innings to get the job done. The Ducks faced Houston Scarborough in round one and shut them out on their way to an 18-0 victory.

Jarvis Anderson dominates regional

BULLARD – After another outstanding track season, Jarvis Anderson is headed to the state meet looking to add more medals to his collection. Anderson’s finishing in second place in his first at the regional meet, his performance solidified his spot at state.
