A potential new law could give some relief to property owners living in the shadow of Samsung Austin Semiconductor by allowing them to petition Taylor for removal from the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.

Anderson takes state meet by storm

AUSTIN – Jarvis Anderson was the lone Duck to represent Taylor High School at the UIL Class State Track and Field Meet Thursday, May 11 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. He would compete in four different events at the State Meet, giving him plenty of opportunity to show why he is one of the best in the state.

City lauds incoming Korean ‘mic drop’

Taylor leaders are celebrating another major South Korean company soon to be setting up shop within city limits. At the May 11 meeting of the Taylor City Council, City Manager Brian LaBorde presented a recent trip to South Korea he participated in alongside other city and county officials, during which the city forged new relationships, including a partnership with iMarketKorea, a distributor specializing in industrial materials.

ESD 10 outlines next steps post election

After months of contention and charges of personal attacks on both sides, last weekend, voters in the eastern portion of Taylor’s extraterritorial jurisdiction approved joining the county’s service area, which means saying goodbye to the century- old Avery Pickett Volunteer Fire Department.

Thrall senior selected to All-Star Game

THRALL – Miranda Richter was one of the biggest reasons why the Thrall Tigerettes were able to have a successful season this year, and now she will be playing in an allstar game. On June 3 at 3 p.m., at Schulenburg High School, Richter will play against some of the best players in the state and get a chance to showcase her talent and leadership.

Hippos lose game three to Eagles

HUTTO – The Hutto Hippos went toe-to-toe with the Lake Ridge Eagles in an elimination game Saturday, May 6, and it took extra innings to get it done. The Hippos would unfortunately fall to the Eagles in 5-4 in eight innings to end their season, but they went down swinging.

Gators snap at Ducks

HUTTO – The Taylor Lady Ducks playoff journey came to an end Friday, May 5, by the Gateway College Preparatory Gators at Hutto Memorial Stadium. A strong first inning helped the Gators shutout the Lady Ducks 12-0 in Friday’s game.

Eagles fly past Lions

LAGO VISTA – The Granger Lions took on the Johnson City Eagles in the first round of the playoffs in a three-game series. The first game was played Thursday, May 4, and the second was played on Friday, May 5, both at Lago Vista High School, in which the Eagles swept the series.
