HUTTO – The Taylor Lady Ducks playoff journey came to an end Friday, May 5, by the Gateway College Preparatory Gators at Hutto Memorial Stadium.

A strong first inning helped the Gators shutout the Lady Ducks 12-0 in Friday’s game.

The Gators scored five runs in the first inning to firmly grab onto the game’s momentum. The Lady Ducks came out on offense ready to respond, but the Gators were buzzing and were able to keep them off the scoreboard.

Following up the five-run first inning, the Gators went on another run, scoring four runs in the second inning. With a 9- 0 lead, the Lady Ducks had a lot of game left to play to try to make a comeback.

The Lady Ducks started to rally, but the Gators defense would snuff it out and shut it down before any damage could happen. The Gators held the Lady Ducks scoreless for the rest of the game and continued to add runs to the board on offense.

The Gators put up two runs in the third and one run in the fourth to bring the score to 12- 0. With the game out of reach, the Lady Ducks knew that their season was coming to an end, but with such a young group they were still very proud of what they accomplished this season.

They have set themselves up perfectly to come back next year with a more experienced group looking to get the job done in round two.
