Hello everyone, welcome back to the Huddle where today we will be discussing why the Taylor Lady Ducks have one of the brightest futures in high school softball.
First, I would like to congratulate Jennifer Cook for completing her first season as the head coach of the Lady Ducks softball team.
She did a phenomenal job getting her group to buy in and compete for one another and fully mold into a team. With Cook at the wheel, the Lady Ducks are in good hands, no matter who they put in the lineup.
Now, I want to transition a little bit and look at the team as a whole, because, man, this team is a sleeping giant. With only a couple of seniors on their roster, they have plenty of room to improve heading into next season, and for those who keep up with Taylor High School sports, once I list these names, you’ll see why these Lady Ducks are set up to be the real deal.
Starting off, one of the biggest returners is Camryn Nunamaker, who will be playing her senior season next year. If you have not had the opportunity to see Nunamaker in action, I highly recommend it because her energy is so infectious.
She played on the volleyball team, track team and softball team, and on every single one of those she was the ultimate hype woman. She plays whatever sport she is in with this energy that is almost like she is wired directly to a generator.
Nunamaker keeps the mood light on the bench and in the dugout, but at the same time, makes big-time plays. So, when the hype player is even more hype after making a big play, it gets her teammates going, and then the Lady Ducks just become unstoppable.
The next two I want to talk about are the Kennick sisters, which again, if you haven’t seen these ladies play, oh man, are you guys in for a treat due to the way they attack the game and have this genuine hunger to get better.
On top of that, the sisters are fierce competitors, and they just play until the final whistle and make sure whoever they are playing against earns every inch. This is just the tip of the iceberg for this team though because they are loaded with talent, and they are all going to be more experienced, with the majority of them currently being sophomores or freshmen.
So, if you did not have the chance to see these ladies in action, make sure you go see them next season. I mentioned a few of their players, but they have so much more talent returning next season, I just did not want to spoil it for you guys.
Thanks everyone for reading this week’s edition of the Huddle. It means a lot to me that you guys stop and take time to read my thoughts every week, and it makes me excited to continue to write these for all of you.
