HUTTO — In an emotionally charged meeting on Jan. 12, the Hutto Independent School District staff and trustees responded to allegations from City Council that the district had dropped the ball on providing a Traffic Impact Analysis for the high school modernization project.

HUTTO – The annual Christmas Tree Lighting event is set for Saturday, Nov. 26, on East Street in downtown Hutto.

HUTTO – The meeting was requested by developer MA Partners LLC and Butler Financial and was open to the public. In opening remarks, project financial lead Matt Harris provided Council with several updates including the news that— after a year of talks— Jack Allen’s Kitchen officially signed a lease last week to build a sit-down restaurant in The Hutto Co-Op. Marking its sixth location in the Austin area, the iconic upscale eatery would be located toward the north end of the 35-acre walkable development, away from Hwy 79 and closer to Hutto City Hall; it will be built in tandem with the first of multiple parking garages at The Co-Op. Harris said Jack Allen’s would open in approximately 18 months.

HUTTO – Four unique holiday events are on tap for the historic downtown as Holidays in Hutto returns this winter. The festive fun begins with Shop Small Saturday and the Downtown Tree Lighting Saturday, Nov.

HUTTO – Recently, Hutto Middle School hosted ‘Meltdown,’ the annual districtwide robotics competition. The energy and enthusiasm from Hippo Nation were on full display with hundreds of students, parents and community members coming together to watch our amazing robotics teams in action.

HUTTO – As the temperatures start to get lower, a friendly reminder that the Hutto ISD Parent & Family Engagement team’s “Hippo Hangers” program has an immediate need for cold-weather clothing including coats, jackets, long-sleeved shirts, sweaters/sweatshirts, socks and pants. Clothes of all sizes are needed, but the biggest need is sizes for elementary children.

HUTTO – Hutto scared up more than fifty local homeowners for the inaugural Halloween House Decorating Contest. The Parks and Recreation department sponsored the ghoulish contest. Volunteer judges went to every home entered and came up with a list of winners in four spooktastic categories.

HUTTO – Residents in Hutto will start to see infrastructure improvements in the near future. The Hutto City Council voted to continue with improvements on the city’s infrastructure plans during last month’s meetings that include waterline, transportation and drainage, in addition to highway expansions that have been budgeted in and around more than $2 million in funds on bid less, contractual projects.

During the month of October, there is plenty of family fun on Wednesday evenings in downtown Hutto. From 3 – 7 p.m. every Wednesday evening at 200 East St., the Hutto Farmers Market has free giveaways and activities in addition to fresh local produce, leafy greens, honey, jerky, lemonades, agua frescas, dog treats, coffee, gourmet cookies, bath bombs, and more available for sale through their local vendors.
