A winter storm warning will continue until 6 a.m. Thursday.
Overnight, 13,000 customers in our local area were left without power due to downed electrical lines.
Oncor spokesman Andy Morgan said crews were busy working to fix the situation.
"I know it's stressful and frightening to not have power in this kind of weather, and our guys understand that, and we are trying to get the lights on as soon as we can," he said.
However, due to continued winter weather, Morgan urged patience.
"The roads aren’t great, so it's taking them a little bit longer than we need to be," he said. "We have our own employee crews as well as contractors responding. They are very experienced at doing this, and hopefully we can get these cleared up as quickly as possible."
Due to hazardous ice accumulations, especially along bridges and overpasses, officials are discouraging all non-emergency travel.
Currently there is light snow in the area. Drizzle and freezing rain will continue into the afternoon with a high temperature of just above the freezing mark at 34 degrees, and will drop back down to the mid-20s overnight.
Morgan said with this kind of weather continuing, more outages and downed power lines will be a factor, and he urged caution, especially with kids and pets.
"If you see a downed power line, don’t go near it," Morgan said. "Call 911 immediately, and they will let us know."
Morgan said customers can check for updates through the company's website, the myoncor app or by texting to 66267.
