A local officer took his skills from patrolling streets to athletic competition. Officer Randy Wheeler competed in the Texas Police Games in San Angelo Monday, June 13.

Williamson County Precinct 4 Constable Paul Leal was selected by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) to receive the 2022 State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Award for Public Service.

Outdoor burning is prohibited in unincorporated Williamson County effective immediately. On June 14, County Judge Bill Gravell issued an order declaring a local state of disaster for Williamson County.

The Williamson County Retired Teachers Association (WCRTA) celebrated their 50th anniversary June 10 at their June meeting. SLUGGING THE SUMMER This past weekend, June 3-5, the six and under Taylor Area Softball & Baseball through Pony players played in a double elimination tournament that provided players with the opportunity to have post season play. The tournament consisted of the Thorndale Bulldogs, Taylor Ducks, Taylor Bulldozers, Taylor Legends and the Taylor Brewers.

It has been two years since the Shining Stars graced the basketball court at the annual Taylor Press 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. This year they return to the court ready to compete.

Just after lunch on Wednesday, June 8, Hutto ISD named Coach Will Compton as the replacement for Coach Brad LaPlante as the Hippos next head football coach and boys athletic coordinator. Coach Compton comes to Hutto from Hays CISD’s Johnson High School in Buda.
