A Thursday fire destroyed half of a home in west Taylor. On June 16, the Taylor Fire Department rushed to the 500 block of Debus Drive near Thomas Street at 8:38 a.m.

Rising expenses will be a topic at the area’s annual notable event for farmers and the community. Stiles Farm Field Day is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Twenty-three Taylor ISD students began a six-weeks paid summer internship at Samsung on June 13. Representing both Legacy Early College and Taylor High School, the interns spent their first day in orientation, learning about the company and its operations.

After an Excessive Heat Warning this past weekend, Taylor might stay out of triple digits for the remainder of the week. The Taylor Texas Weather Network forecasts high temperatures in the upper 90s through at least Sunday, June 19.

The Williamson County District Clerk’s Office wants to warn residents in Williamson and surrounding counties about a phone scam that was reported to that office. People have been receiving calls from someone who claims to be a county official or law enforcement officer telling the victim that he or she has failed to appear for jury duty and is threatening arrest by failure to appear.

The Rotary Club of Taylor heard from Commander Joseph Branson of the Taylor Police and victim services coordinator Priscilla Morena of the Taylor Police Department during the Rotary meeting at Sirloin Stockade in Taylor June 9. Hutto’s police chief has been credited with an initiative on school safety. Chief Jeff Chief Jeff Yarbrough recently received the 2022 Law Enforcement Award for Professional Achievement from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement for the creation of a school safety model called the Four Pillars of School Policing.
