Fire station dedicated, another on the way

HUTTO – A crowd of community members and dignitaries turned out to help dedicate Hutto Fire Rescue – David “Red” Oman Fire Station No. 3 on Wednesday, Dec. 14. The 12,000 square foot station at 211 Limmer Loop has been serving the community since June.

Lions drown Ducks

The Taylor Ducks boys’ varsity basketball team fell to the Leander Lions 68-39 Tuesday night at the Ducks Pond. Ducks head coach Stephen Gibson spent a considerable amount of time after Tuesday’s loss taking to his team and said he told them they have to play with a purpose.

Tigerettes roll over Luling

A big second quarter helped the Thrall Tigerettes (12-7) roll over the Luling Eagles (1-14) Tuesday night. The Tigerettes outscored the Lady Eagles 20-1 in the second and blew open a close game for the win.

It’s cold: Time to plant your radishes

December is a quiet time in our Central Texas backyard gardens. Most plants and trees are slowly going dormant for the winter. Due to the reduction in daylight, fall and winter planted crops grow more slowly, but it’s still a great time of year for leafy greens like spinach, lettuce, kale, collards and mustard greens. If you are looking for a little more variety out in your vegetable beds, it’s a super time of the year for planting radishes.
