On Thursday, Aug. 4, the Williamson County – Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is hosting a School Garden Workshop designed for elementary school teachers, after-school program coordinators, volunteers or camp leaders who want to teach more plant science, environmental science and/or implement a school garden project. The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A local church wants to help students and parents prepare for a safe start to school. God’s Way Christian Baptist Church will host its annual Panorama Back to School event Aug.

On July 29, Hutto moved to Stage 3 water conservation restrictions as defined by Hutto city ordinance, to stay in compliance with water provider contracts. The main differences between Stage 2 and Stage 3 rules in Hutto are that hoseend sprinklers can no longer be used and hand-held watering outdoors is now limited to designated days.

An assault charge led to the search of a local business where police found 23.4 grams of narcotics and paraphernalia. Last week, Samuel Adams, 48, of Taylor, was served a probable cause warrant for manufacture/delivered/possession with intent to deliver.

Salaries for Williamson County government officials and employees are set to go up amid national inflation concerns. On July 26, Commissioners Court approved authorizing written notice to each elected official of their salary and other compensation to be included in the 2022- 23 budget to be adopted at the end of the year.

Louisiana native Evan Hale will be taking over the role of sportswriter at the Taylor Press newspaper. Hale, originally from Scott, Louisiana, a small town outside of Lafayette graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in May 2022 with a degree in journalism.
