An assault charge led to the search of a local business where police found 23.4 grams of narcotics and paraphernalia.

Last week, Samuel Adams, 48, of Taylor, was served a probable cause warrant for manufacture/delivered/possession with intent to deliver.

Adams had previously been arrested July 15 for an outstanding warrant for assault with injury/family violence. According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim of the assault told police the assault began as an argument and escalated. The victim said she was slammed on the floor multiple times and suffered a broken jaw from the assault.

She said she believes that the suspect is a “meth user,” and the assault allegedly happened after a “meth binge.”

After an investigation, police had probable cause to believe that the suspect was selling methamphetamines out of his business, located in the 100 block of Fourth Street.

The affidavit said a search of the business led police to find a cosmetics bag with two baggies of large clear shards, which police believe were methamphetamines. One bag was 12.8 grams and the other was 4 grams. Officers also found a digital scale, two glass pipes with suspected methamphetamine residue and three empty baggies the same size as the first. Police also found a glass cork bottle top with 4 grams of suspected methamphetamines inside the cosmetics bag.

According to the affidavit, officers were advised that there were possibly more drugs in the business.

Officers later found a Nintendo DS case inside of a Sketchers shoe. Inside the case, officers found a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Officers also found another bag with suspected methamphetamine, a third glass pipe with methamphetamine residue and a second scale.

Adams posted bond for $10,000 for the assault charge. He posted bond for $100,000 for manufacture/deliver/possession with intent deliver drugs in an amount over 1 gram and under 4 grams and was released July 23.
