School garden workshop this week

On Thursday, Aug. 4, the Williamson County – Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is hosting a School Garden Workshop designed for elementary school teachers, after-school program coordinators, volunteers or camp leaders who want to teach more plant science, environmental science and/or implement a school garden project. On Thursday, Aug. 4, the Williamson County – Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is hosting a School Garden Workshop designed for elementary school teachers, after-school program coordinators, volunteers or camp leaders who want to teach more plant science, environmental science and/or implement a school garden project. The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The School Garden Workshop will focus on Junior Master Gardener and “Learn, Grow, Eat & Go.” These two programs use hands-on gardening activities to teach math, environmental science, leadership and community service. Workshop attendees will learn gardening basics from master gardeners, network with local businesses and organizations to support school gardens, and learn how AgriLife Extension can support youth gardening projects.

Cost is $25 and includes lunch. Location is 100 Wilco Way, Roomm HR108, in Georgetown.

Curricula may be purchased through the registration link for an additional cost. Registration deadline is Monday, Aug. 1. Register for the workshop at https://williamson.agrilife.org/ events.
