Erma Evelynn Applegren Patton passed away April 20, 2022, after a short illness in Georgetown. Erma was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Wolf Point, Montana, to John Helmer Applegren and Alice Naomi (Corbitt) Applegren. They became parents to Mary Allene, Erma Evelyn, Arthur Gustuf, John David and Paul Burton.

Dear Editor, When Intercraft opened its factory in Taylor, they had to hire over 100 people from Georgetown because they couldn’t find enough qualified employees from this town. The Intercraft company manufactured picture frames.

It’s Mother’s Day weekend, and I feel compelled to write a column related to that. The headline is something I always tease my mom about.

Welcome to week three of learning about the feasts and festivals ordained by God! Last week, we moved from Passover to the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which Passover initiates. Unleavened Bread is all about removing leaven—yeast—sin from our lives. Jesus came 2,000 years ago to fulfill the feast and make possible a way for us to be free and rejoin the Creator. I’ll introduce the third event (First Fruits) and connect it to the first two feasts and Jesus’ fulfillment.

Between Taylor and Hutto, the road that connects U.S. 79 with Chandler Road has a new widened surface.

Taylor High School internships at Samsung Austin Semiconductor are set for the summer, but local students already in college will have opportunities to work with the tech giant as well. Samsung will offer two paths for college students to work at the company, including a summer college internship program.
