Taylor High School internships at Samsung Austin Semiconductor are set for the summer, but local students already in college will have opportunities to work with the tech giant as well.
Samsung will offer two paths for college students to work at the company, including a summer college internship program. Applications will be available later this year.
Samsung’s college internships are separate from the Taylor High School internship program offered to incoming and graduating seniors. The high school program runs from June 13 through July 26.
To qualify for college internships, students must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in engineering, computer science, math or physics. Grade point averages must be cumulatively 3.0 or higher.
Internship
The three-month internship program will include a project in a department such as analytics, automation, diffusion, etch, metals, photolithography or others. Interns participate in orientations and training sessions aimed to give insight into the company and culture. Students can also socialize with fellow interns and Samsung employees.
Summer will end with an intern showcase event where participants will present their accomplishments. Select students will be invited to transition into the College Orientation Recruitment Program (CORP).
CORP
CORP engineers are fulltime, entry-level roles that include a technical training program with an overview of Samsung’s processes, operations and semiconductor fabrication and manufacturing principles. The program also features networking, social and community service activities with current and alumni CORP engineers.
Applications for CORP’s spring 2023 program are expected to available before August.
