Residents and business owners who need materials to patch alleyways and private property can receive them this Saturday. The city of Taylor announced July 1, as Street Millings Day, and will pass out street millings supplies from 8 a.m.

Hutto sets school district budget

HUTTO – Driven by an increase in staff, students and inflationary costs, Hutto Independent School District Board of Trustees approved an upcoming school year budget of $116,182,923 for the general fund, about $5.7 million more than last year.

Ducks football has solid first day at 7-on-7 state tournament

COLLEGE STATION – Taylor High School varsity football was in action and braving the intense humidity on June 22-23 at the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football State 7-on-7 Tournament held at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station. The Ducks took on Panther Creek High School, Midland Christian School and Jasper High School in pool play on Thursday before squaring up against Needville High School on Friday for the championship bracket.

Abbott vetoes bills; feud with Patrick grows

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick claimed last week that Gov. Greg Abbott is sabotaging the Senate’s work because of their ongoing feud over which approach to property tax reform is best, The Dallas Morning News reported. Abbott vetoed three bills by Sen. Paul Bettencourt, R-Houston, who has been Patrick’s point senator on increasing homestead exemptions in order to provide tax cuts. As of Friday afternoon, he had vetoed 31 bills.
