Former Taylor High School alumnus Terrell Reynolds has been very active in his community lately as the former standout quarterback for the Ducks started a threeday youth football camp at the Taylor Athletic Complex.

BASTROP – Taylor High School boys varsity basketball is heading south down Highway 95 to Bastrop High School this Monday for its final summer league scrimmages. The scrimmages, which were supposed to be on Wednesday, were rescheduled to June 26 as Taylor will see some solid competition.

Local officials are less than pleased with two simultaneous city-wide fiber optic network projects that have prompted an outcry from residents over torn up yards, broken water, sewer and sprinkler lines, and other issues.

A new face has started at the Taylor Press this week, as Hunter Dworaczyk joins the staff as a general assignment reporter. Dworaczyk, originally from Needville, is welltraveled and makes his way to Taylor after finishing his college studies.

Following last year’s Fourth of July fireworks display that frightened a flock of egrets and ultimately caused the birds to crash into power transformers, the annual firework launch site is moving to the nearby Bull Branch Park.

The 77th Annual Midsummer reunion Thursday, June 22 — At 5:30 p.m., The Elgin Swedish Association’s 77th Annual Midsummer Reunion festival Elgin’s SPJST Hall, 702 State Hwy 95. Midsummer is the last remaining heritage festival hosted in Elgin.

On Friday, June 23, the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter will host a free feline adoption event from 6 to 8 p.m., with special canine guests out on the Adoption Center patio. This is a free, oneday- only event at 1855 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown.

Saturday, June 24, is an important memorial day for Detective Sergeant Chris Kel ley who died in service. The annual Chris Kelley Memorial 5K is a fundraiser that supports a scholarship program and gives donations to families of fallen or injured first responders and military personnel.
