Show and prove: preseason football is back

Area football teams are set to take the field on Friday night as Taylor High School, Thrall High School and Granger High School all have preseason scrimmages. St. Mary’s Catholic School scrimmages on Saturday morning, while Hutto High School will be able to have full-contact practice as a large school that day.

Lady Ducks soar into regular season following scrimmages

Taylor High School varsity volleyball had quite a busy week under first-year head coach Rylee Davis as the Lady Ducks had tryouts Tuesday through Thursday, hosted scrimmages on Friday morning, were introduced to the community at the Duck Day event Saturday morning and concluded that afternoon with more scrimmages.

Thrall hosts Meet The Tigers at packed Tiger Stadium

THRALL – Tiger Stadium was the site of the annual Meet The Tigers event as Tigers and Tigerettes fall activities for Thrall High School were on display for the community. Football, volleyball, cross country, cheer, band and coaches properly introduced themselves as they went down the line with a microphone on Friday evening with the stands packed and plenty of smiling faces from Thrall.

Taylor flocks to Duck Day football scrimmage

ANDREW SALMI andrew.salmi@granitemedia partners.com The Duck Pond was the site of Taylor High School’s first Duck Day showcase (formerly Meet The Ducks) under athletic director and head football coach Earven Flowers as fall activities were introduced to the public with football, volleyball, cross country, team tennis, cheer, band, color guard and more. Saturday morning was the first day that the Ducks were allowed to have full-contact practice as the varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams were all on the field in pads and helmets.

Lady Ducks, Tigeretts volleyball start scrimmages

Taylor and Thrall High School volleyball squads were in action on Friday morning as the Lady Ducks hosted area teams for multiple scrimmages at the Taylor High School gymnasium. Manor New Tech and Round Rock Christian Academy were also in attendance as all four schools got their varsity and junior varsity teams some valuable preseason experience before Aug.
