The Taylor High School girls varsity basketball team handled business at home Friday, Jan. 19 as the Lady Ducks coasted to a lopsided 81-10 victory over district foe Manor New Tech High School.
The Lady Ducks were in complete control all game as the visiting Lady Titans could not get anything going on offense or stop Taylor’s highpowered offense. As a team, the Lady Ducks recorded 38 steals on the night.
Taylor was led by senior Asia Zachary as she had a game-high 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor, seven rebounds, five steals, three assists and one blocked shot. Sophomore Aubriana Alderete continued her strong play as of late with 16 points on two three-pointers made, five steals, three rebounds and two assists while fellow sophomore Madyson Mitchell also scored in double figures with 12 points, a pair of shots made from behind the arc, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Taylor had its duo of senior Ansley Reed and freshman Tiana Candee have a solid game. Reed finished with eight points and five steals, while Candee had eight points of her own with two steals against New Tech.
The Lady Ducks (16-7 overall record, 8-0 in district) under Head Coach Lawrence Bailey will look to continue their dominance of 4A-District 27 this week as Taylor has a game scheduled Jan. 23 on the road against rival La Grange High School.
