Delinquent property tax relief available
Williamson County Tax Assessor/Collector Larry Gaddes announced a new program March 4 designed to help homeowners stay in their homes. The American Rescue The American Rescue Plan passed by Congress provides money to help homeowners impacted by the pandemic avoid foreclosure of their homestead.

County animal shelter to celebrate birthday
The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is celebrating its 15th anniversary on Monday, March 14, with a live birthday party to be broadcast on its Facebook page. Tune in at noon to Tune in at noon to join in on the festivities with a birthday cake for the pups to enjoy and special gifts for the cats.

City moves to keep pace with Samsung
Residents got another glimpse Thursday into how the planned Samsung manufacturing plant is prompting changes to Taylor’s plans to handle future growth. The multinational chip maker’s intent to build a $17 billion, 6 million square-foot fabrication plant operational by 2024 led city staff to determine needed alterations to the Envision Taylor comprehensive plan.

Warrants issued for Hutto death
Two arrest warrants have been issued in connection with the recent death of a Hutto teen girl shot in December. Hutto Interim Police Chief Jim Stuart announced the warrants, filed March 2, name a minor female wanted on a juvenile charge of felony manslaughter and her father, who faces a misdemeanor charge of making a firearm accessible to a child resulting in death.

HVAC unit causes alarm
Smoke from a heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit drew firefighters to the Sonic Drive-In in Taylor Monday, March 7. There was minimal damage with no reported injuries.

12 coronavirus cases in Taylor
Active COVID-19 cases in Taylor last week were close to thei lowest recorded numbers. On Monday, March 7, Mayor Brandt Rydell reported Taylor had an estimated 12 active cases of the coronavirus.

New Potters Alley art sought
Residents have an opportunity to help revitalize art in a downtown Taylor alley. The Taylor Public Arts Advisory Board, an entity created by the Taylor City Council, is issuing a call for proposals to refresh and add new art to Potters Alley, a brick alley way that extends west off Main Street less than a block north of Second Street.
