Two arrest warrants have been issued in connection with the recent death of a Hutto teen girl shot in December.

Hutto Interim Police Chief Jim Stuart announced the warrants, filed March 2, name a minor female wanted on a juvenile charge of felony manslaughter and her father, who faces a misdemeanor charge of making a firearm accessible to a child resulting in death.

“This was a complex case that required extensive review of all available evidence before any decisions could be made on possible charges,” Stuart said in a press release. “Hutto police will not make any further comment on this case and will instead respectfully defer any additional inquiries to the Williamson County Attorney’s Office.”

According to a report from KXAN, the family of Faith Monreal, 15, said she died Feb. 12. Monreal was injured during a shooting in a Hutto Town Square neighborhood home Dec. 12, during an incident involving her and another teen girl.

“We are limited on what we can share as Hutto police are investigating,” said Hutto Independent School District Superintendent Celina Estrada Thomas and Principal Jonathan Smith in a letter sent to parents in December after the incident. “This is difficult news for all of us, especially for those students and staff members close to those involved.”
