Water restrictions tightened HUTTO – The three water service utilities serving Hutto updated their drought conditions last week, with the city of Hutto and Jonah Special Utility District moving to Stage 2 conditions and Manville Water Supply Corp. advancing to the more restrictive Stage 3.

Commissioners approve increase in salaries

GEORGETOWN- Elected officials in Williamson County are going to receive a pay raise. Passed by the County Commissioners’ Court Tuesday, July 18, the item adds a total of roughly $330,000 across the board for all the elected officials.

Superintendent headed to Georgetown

On Monday night, Taylor Independent School District learned they will have to begin a search for a new superintendent after Georgetown ISD announced Devin Padavil as the lone finalist for the position in Georgetown. The announcement came while Padavil was in Cabo, San Lucas, Mexico, where he was married this past weekend.

No injuries reported after failed landing
No injuries reported after failed landing

The landing gear of a single-engine plane failed during the landing process, forcing the pilot to make a gear up landing at the Taylor Municipal Airport Sunday, July 16. The plane slid across the runway without the proper gear, but otherwise landed safely.

Samsung hosts two Taylor High teachers

Samsung Austin Semiconductor and the Taylor Independent School District have partnered once again. Two Taylor High School teachers visited the semiconductor factory in Austin for three days last week, July 11-13, as part of the Workforce Solutions Capital Area’s Educator Externship Program.

IMAX theater coming to Hutto as part of EVO Entertainment

HUTTO – As anticipation builds for EVO Entertainment’s new Hutto location, EVO officials announced the Hutto facility will include both an IMAX theater and a state-of-the-art Enhanced Viewing Experience theater. EVO Entertainment also released new renderings for the Hutto location. Updated timelines indicate official groundbreaking by late October and a spring 2024 grand opening.

Hot streak could be worst in 10 years

If local forecasts hold, Taylor could have the most consecutive days of 100-degree temperatures in 12 years. The Taylor Texas Weather Network recorded highs from 100 to 104 degrees July 10-13.

Proposed budget $14M more than last year

Next year’s total budget of just under $62 million is $14 million more than last year and will allow for new fire and police personnel, parks and recreation projects, expanded drainage improvements and even a part-time curator for the Dan Moody Museum.
