Pay raise, ETJ fire service, developments on council agenda

Extended fire services, council compensation and several major new commercial and residential development plans are on the agenda for Thursday night’s Taylor City Council meeting. At the Council’s regular meeting July 27, city leaders will revisit a dormant controversy by receiving a compensation committee’s recommendation for a proposed pay raise, but this time the recommendation will be far less than the proposed increase from $25 to $1,200$1,500 per month that city leaders voted down last year in the face of public pressure.

Wilco development office opens in S. Korea

The Williamson County Economic Development Partnership has announced the opening of a new office in Seoul, South Korea. The office, opened July 1, is co-located with KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, est. 1962) and will share staffing, according to a press release from the county.

Also known as the Hutto Data Center Campus, the site is located along the Texas 79 corridor at 3399 County Road 132 in the Megasite.

Taylor Independent School District has set its sights on an interim superintendent. The Taylor ISD board of trustees approved to authorize the school board president and district legal counsel to enter contract negotiations with Steve Flores to be interim superintendent at the meeting on Monday, July 24.
