Last week, Texas Beer Company (TBC) kicked off a statewide tour to launch a new charity collaboration beer with Hill Country Conservancy: Wild Texas Kolsch. Representatives from TBC said, “It’s a good beer for a good cause with the intention of keeping Texas wild.” A portion of the beer proceeds will be donated to Hill Country Conservancy (HCC), and supporters are encouraged to make additional donations at www.hillcountryconservancy.org. HCC has conserved over 14,000 acres and is dedicated to protecting our vital natural resources through conservation, community collaboration, and engagement to sustain the region now and forever.

Milam Community Theater will present its second Youth Series performance of the 2022 Season. “The Jungle Book.” by Joseph Bobinette, directed by Samantha Sanders and Stephanie Junker, and based on the books by Rudyard Kipling, will be presented on and on Saturday, May 7, at 2 p.m.

The Williamson County Purchasing Department is hosting is first ever vendor forum on Wednesday, April 27. Businesses are invited to attend to learn how to do business with Williamson County.

HUTTO – In April, Hutto ISD has held multiple ribbon cutting ceremonies to celebrate the recent completion of renovations at three campuses across the district. The project included additions, renovations and modernizations to Hutto Elementary, Farley Middle School and Hutto Middle School.

HUTTO – Early voting in Hutto began Monday, April 25. Hutto City Hall is not a early voting location. The early voting location in the City of Hutto is Wilco Hutto Annex, located at 321 Ed Schmidt Blvd., Suite 100.

Taylor Duck track and field athlete Jarvis Anderson continues to leave his imprint on the sport. This past March, Anderson broke the school track and field record in the 300-meter hurdles at the Texas Relays with a time of 37.27, a record that stood for nearly 40 years.

Last week, a local organization shined a light or rather many lights to honor, encourage and remember anyone who has battled cancer. During the event, Heritage Square was lined with luminaries, which are bags with lights inside to represent the fight against cancer.

Raises are in store for Taylor ISD personnel. On April 18, the Taylor ISD school board approved raises and compensation changes for the 2022-23 school year.

Freely drinking outside in downtown Taylor has been temporary, but city officials have the authority to make it permanent. On Thursday, April 28, the Taylor City Council will discuss and give possible direction on the suspension of the prohibition of alcoholic beverages on public property and rights of way within the Central Business District.

Election Day is mere weeks away, and the Taylor Press wants to give you a closer look at the candidates. In Taylor, the only contested race is for city council District 1 between incumbent Mayor Pro Tem Gerald Anderson and Stan Werner.

Born and raised in Taylor, and a graduate of Taylor High School 1989. I moved to Austin in 1989 then moved back to Taylor in 2001. Moved to Houston at the end of 2001. I stayed there until 2003, moved back to Taylor and started getting involved with the community as soon as I came back. I saw a need for programs for kids. So, me, a neighbor and a friend started a summer camp for a young man. Some of the guys from that summer, camp include Mark, Jackson and Justin and his brother, Dantrell Hargers.
