Band and color guard beat the heat Last school year, the Taylor High School Band and Color Guard began a new tradition. They invited the local fire department to visit on their last day of summer camp to provide a cool and rewarding spray of water to dedicated guard and band members after practicing in the August heat.

Live southern roots rock ‹n’ roll music from the Statesboro Revue, a Texas pit barbecue dinner, a live and silent auction, and a raffle: these are some of the highlights promised at the 19th annual Down Home Rodeo, an annual gala event sponsored by Down Home Ranch in support of children born with intellectual disabilities. The event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Coupland Dance Hall & Inn, 101 Hoxie Street, in Coupland. According to representatives from Down Home Ranch, a non-profit organization, “Proceeds from the gala will support people with disabilities as they pursue their interests, learn new skills, build social connections and feel empowered at an inspiring 33-year-old ranch in Elgin, TX.”

TSTC Cybersecurity program offers estra Flexibility to students

HUTTO – Texas State Technical College’s Cybersecurity program is coming back this fall to the East Williamson County campus in a hybrid format. For the first time since spring 2020, students will be able to attend labs inperson on campus and listen to lectures online. Students continue to have the option of taking the program in an allonline format.

HUTTO – The city of Hutto and Hutto ISD have teamed up to launch #HippoNationFriday, a community-wide initiative to show community unity and pride by wearing Hutto orange every Friday. School started last week, and the new campaign encourages everyone in the community – from businesses to workers, to students and alumni, families and friends – to wear Hutto orange every Friday to show their shared love for Hutto.
