Patriot Day set for Sept. 11

The Taylor Fire Department will sponsor the 9/11 Memorial March and Patriot Day Program in the evening. A parade will march down Main Street in Taylor, followed by a program at Heritage Square, 400 N. Main St.

Marvin Lawrence “Dusty” Rodenbeck

Marvin Lawrence “Dusty” Rodenbeck was born July 3, 1933, in Detmold. He was the seventh child, and second son, of W.C. and Margaret Unnasch Rodenbeck. Marvin passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, at his home in Thorndale. Known as “Dusty” throughout his life, he served in the United States Army from July 1953 until June 1955.

TSTC and Temple adapting to fill the skills gap

Taylor and the surrounding region have a high-tech future on the horizon, and area institutions of higher learning are adapting right along there with it to meet the needs of local industry, community partners and students seeking up-to-date, hands-on skills. This was the focus of several presentations made at the Taylor Texas Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center’s luncheon Aug. 22 at Taylor Independent School Events Center.

County Judge lifts burn ban

WILCO – After two months of severe drought conditions, the burn ban in the county has ended. On Wednesday, Aug. 24, Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell lifted the burn ban for the unincorporated areas of Williamson County.
