Area sports summer camps continue next week
Taylor and Hutto will each be back in action next week as the three school districts will host various sports camps for younger athletes. TAYLOR Lady Ducks basketball will host two separate camps this upcoming week that will provide individual instruction and team concepts under the Taylor girls basketball program on June 5 – 8. 06/03/2023 04:45 PM

Texas House impeaches AG Paxton
The Texas House voted overwhelmingly to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton Saturday, only the third time in the state’s history that has occurred. WCRTA book project promotes reading and literacy
The Children’s Book Project is one of the best loved events of the Williamson County Retired Teachers Association. One of the main goals of this project is to promote the love of reading and literacy in young children. One way to accomplish this is to present books to the children for them to keep and take home. Phyllis Jean (Brooks) Carlow, age 85 of Taylor, May 25, 2023, at Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock, Texas. She was born Jan. 3, 1938, in Madison, Indiana, to Rubye (Lightfoot) and Avery Brooks. She loved music and taught herself to play the guitar at a young age. After her high school graduation from Carrollton (KY) High School, she went on to play music on variety and radio programs, when she met and married Arno Walker. Obaldo Perez
Obaldo Perez, 79, of Granger passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 21, 2023, surrounded by his wife and children. Obaldo Perez was born Oct. 17, 1943, in San Saba, to Felipe and Estella (Acuña) Perez. He grew up with 12 siblings and attended school at Runge. He married his best friend, Beatrice Gonzales, July 2, 1962, at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Taylor. They lost their first son, and later they were blessed with five beautiful children, Daniel, Sylvia, Gloria, Obaldo Jr. and Carmelita. In everything that he did, Obaldo worked extremely hard. In his earlier years, he worked as a cotton gin foreman in Tahoka. He also worked as a landscaper for Jonah Nursery. Later, he dedicated 13 years as a groundskeeper and maintenance for Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic School. He then worked at Granger ISD for 16 years as maintenance, landscaper, security and then as school crossing guard making sure the students got to school and home safely until his final days. 06/03/2023 04:45 PM
