In his spare time, Obaldo enjoyed being with his family and spending time outdoors.

He loved fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren.

He also had a green thumb when it came to gardening and even has a pepper plant named, “Obaldo Pepper” after him. He loved music and enjoyed dancing, especially one of his favorites, the Twist. Obaldo also enjoyed going to the casinos with his wife, and always came back a winner (mom not so much).

He also enjoyed playing cards with his family.

Obaldo was a big fan of the Granger Lions and looked forward to watching Friday Night Lights at Granger High School watching his grandsons play football.

Obaldo was very strong in his Catholic faith. He taught his children to always put God first in their lives, to always be honest, respectful, and to work hard for what they have.

He also taught to never envy anyone and to be grateful for what God has blessed you with.

Obaldo was preceded in death by both his infant son and Obaldo Perez Jr.; grandchildren, Alize and Brandon Lopez; his parents, Felipe and Estella (Acuña) Perez; father and mother-inlaw, Antonio and Juanita Gonzales; sisters, Juanita (Perez) Flores, Elisa (Perez) Garcia, Margarita (Perez) Hernandez, Sara (Perez) Deleon and Sally (Perez) Yanes; brothers, Felipe Perez Jr., and Faustino Perez.
