HUTTO – Over 18 of the area’s active non-profit groups showed up at Adam Orgain Park April 15 for the Second Annual Community-Wide Appreciation Picnic The event was billed as a totally free event for the community, hosted by Community In Action Non-Profit Coalition.

Mid-morning Mixer Tuesday, April 25 — From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Common Cents will be hosting and sponsoring a free mid-morning mixer for Taylor and surrounding area residents, 602 W. Twelfth St. Ste. 102.

One of the primary objectives of the Chamber is to stay informed on legislative business issues so our local business people can stick to working at their businesses. We do that through our daily work with our strategic partners and by bringing people that our business people need to hear from to our area.

Chad Michael Barcak, 45, of Caldwell, and a lifelong resident of the Rockdale area, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023, in Burleson County. Chad was born Oct. 8, 1977, to Patricia and Willie Barcak in Rockdale.

Margie Ann Schoener Robinson passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, at Resolute Baptist Hospital in New Braunfels after a brief illness at 81 years old.

Janie Olguin, 61, of Georgetown, joined our Heavenly father, Friday, April 14, 2023, at 8:21 a.m. Janie was born April 23, 1961, in Taylor. If you knew Janie, you knew she was a Texas Longhorn football and Dallas Cowboys fan with Tony Romo being her all-time favorite. You could find her driving the streets of Taylor from Bartlett to Rockdale, meeting and making new friends everywhere she went.

The votes won’t be in until Saturday, May 6, but candidates gave voters reasons to support them last week. The annual candidate forum, hosted by the Taylor Press and the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce, was held Tuesday, April 18, at the Taylor Main Street Event Center.

Jan Harris wants people in the city to know that her job as Taylor’s Main Street manager is more than just special events. “It’s a lot more,” Harris said on the most recent edition of “Taylor Talk with Jason Hennington” April 10.

With Samsung Austin Semiconductor on the literal horizon these days, Taylor is poised for dramatic growth. And the municipality is preparing to grow along with it.

Kelly Windham is in her fifth year of teaching English, Yearbook, Journalism, Creative Writing and College and Career Readiness at Legacy Early College High School. While most of her sixteen years in education has been in a traditional classroom setting, part of that time has been in non-traditional roles that centered around education such as Peace Corps, Rice University Civic Leadership, and Community-Based Entrepreneurship.
