The votes won’t be in until Saturday, May 6, but candidates gave voters reasons to support them last week.

The annual candidate forum, hosted by the Taylor Press and the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce, was held Tuesday, April 18, at the Taylor Main Street Event Center. At the event, candidates from both the Taylor Independent School District school board At-large and Taylor City Council At-large races answered questions provided by the community.

Taylor ISD candidates, Jim Buzan (incumbent) and Lisa Baum, began answering questions about critical race theory, inclusion and other concerns from constituents.

On the city side, Dwayne Ariola (incumbent), along with Rick Von Pfeil. Sandra Wolff and Janetta McCoy answered questions that ranged from extra territorial jurisdiction to the divide between old Taylor and new Taylor.

The entire forum is available on the Taylor Press Facebook page.

Be sure to check out our voter’s guide in today’s issue of the Taylor Press.
