Suspected gunman arrested

A man suspected of stalking down a street, repeatedly firing a rifle and then shooting at police surrendered peacefully after a tense late-night standoff, investigators said. No one was hurt and officers never returned fire, officials said.

Last week, city officials were in attendance with citizens and soccer players to kick-off the opening of the Murphy Park Soccer Mini-Pitch. The new amentity at the park includes a small, illumiated, customized hardcourt space for individual and pickup soccer games.

Governor OKs Texas CHIPS Act

On Thursday, June 8, Gov. Greg Abbott approved the Texas CHIPS Act, which will create the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund, that will subsidize companies that manufacture chips in Texas and provide matching funds to universities and other state entities that invest in chip design or manufacturing projects.

City receives interest-free loan

In a move calculated to save taxpayers money, the Taylor City Council approved issuing Certificates of Obligation that will save the city over $4.6 million in interest expenses on a $5 million loan. In April, the city published its intent to issue $5,090,000 in COs.

Ducks football qualifies for 7-on-7 state tournament

CAMERON – The Taylor High School varsity football team’s hard work on a scorching hot day was properly rewarded on Saturday, June 10 as the Ducks went 3-1 at the 7-on-7 state qualifying tournament hosted by Cameron Yoe High School. With their final victory of the day, the Ducks were able to qualify for the upcoming Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 7-on-7 State Tournament on June 22-23 held at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station.
