Taylor athletics continues its busy summer

The Ducks and Lady Ducks continue to be hard at work with the youth and high school programs at Taylor and have already made it to the middle of June.

Taylor just had its first Lady Patos Soccer Camp for both girls and boys over the weekend under head coach Joel Flores. The younger kids grades two through four got a great two–day camp in the morning while the older group of fifth through seventh graders put in work during the evening. The camp taught the girls and boys a memorable two days of soccer that covered a range of techniques, skills and tactics to help them take their game to the next level.

In boys basketball, the Ducks started the first day of a four–day youth camp on Monday that will go through Thursday under boys varsity head coach Stephen Gibson.

Similar to the girls’ camp last week, there will be two groups on each day: second through fifth graders will be in the high school gym from 1:30–3 p.m. with the older group of sixth through ninth graders afterward from 3:30–5 p.m. Campers will do drills and scrimmages to gradually improve their skill set while also getting a better mentality of the game of basketball.

As for Lady Ducks varsity basketball, Taylor is scheduled to host a summer league exhibition on Tuesday night at both the high school’s big gym and small gym. There will be seven other teams in attendance: Granger, Thrall, Bastrop, Lago Vista, Manor New Tech, McCallum, and Savio.

Taylor plays both of its games in the big gym as the Lady Ducks take on Lago Vista at 6 p.m. and Bastrop at 8 p.m. Granger plays both of its games in the small gym as the Lady Lions take on Bastrop at 6 p.m. and Lago Vista at 8 p.m. As for Thrall, the Tigerettes play Manor New Tech at 5 p.m. in the big gym and McCallum at 7 p.m. in the small gym.

Girls and boys happily pose for a photo on Sunday, June 11 during the first annual Lady Patos Soccer Camp held at Taylor Stadium.
