Local elections are set for May 7, and we now know who will vie for seats on the city council and the school board. Currently, there is one contested race on the city council and one on the Taylor ISD board of trustees.

Business is blooming again at Taylor Garden Center. A perennial favorite of local gardeners since 2018, the nursery reopens their doors on Friday, Feb. 25. The reopening will showcase a larger variety of flowers, fruit trees, vegetables and herbs plus the addition of a houseplant section and potted succulents.

Last Tuesday, Taylor’s previously approved plan for the future was addressed since the formula didn’t anticipate the Samsung variable. On Feb.

On Feb. 10, the Taylor City Council thanked staff members for submitting the application that resulted in the council being selected as the 2022 Texas City Management Association (TCMA) City Council of the Year. Early voting for the Williamson County primaries is underway and started slow on Valentine’s Day. On the first day of early voting, there was a turnout of 0.67% voters in the county.

Big things are happening in Taylor again. Cecilia Abbott, First Lady of Texas, will be the keynote speaker at St. Mary’s Catholic High School’s second annual Cultura Vitae (“Culture of Life”) dinner Friday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m.

HUTTO – A staff member within Hutto ISD brings a rich cultural experience to the Hutto community. Elizabeth Kahura, functional academic aide at Kerley Elementary School, established the African Safari Program.

HUTTO – Last week, the city of Hutto welcomed Angela Walton to the team. Walton was sworn in as the city secretary.

HUTTO – For Peter Wilson, of Georgetown, it is the best maintenance job he said he has ever had. “It’s something new every day, and we are constantly learning,” he said.

Community members that wish to run for public office have less than a week to file for candidacy in local elections. Candidate filing ends Friday, Feb.
