The 72nd annual Taylor rodeo kicked off this past Thursday, July 14, at the Williamson County Expo Center. The rodeo continued through Saturday, July 16, and was filled with action packed nonstop events, live music and vendors ranging from food services to western wear.

VOLUNTARY WATER RESTRICTIONS

1. Water customers are requested to voluntarily limit the irrigation of landscaped areas to Sundays and Thursdays for customers with a street address ending in an even number, and Saturdays and Wednesdays for water customers with a street address ending in an odd number, and to irrigate landscapes only between the hours of midnight and 10 AM, and 8 PM to midnight on designated watering days.

A fire that drew suspicion destroyed an iconic landmark. On July 10, the Taylor Fire Department and other area firefighters responded to the 500 block of Burkett Street for a fire that engulfed the historic home.

Granger Lake under Drought Watch

The Brazos River Authority has informed customers accessing water from Granger Lake that a Stage 1 Drought Watch has been declared. Customers affected by the Stage 1 Drought Watch include customers receiving water from the city of Taylor, Jonah Water Special Utility District, East Williamson County Regional Water Supply System, and Lone Star Regional Water Authority.
