Richard Phillip Pfeil, 85, of Taylor, passed away May 6. Richard was born May 14, 1936, in Taylor to Robert and Leona Pfeil.

Curtis Walter Minzenmayer, loving husband, daddy, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 6, 2022, at the age of 92. Curtis was born July 27, 1929, in Coupland, to parents Walter and Louise Minzenmayer.

Edward J. Betak, 79, passed away May 9, 2022.

Norris Schroeder, age 92, of Thorndale, passed away April 28, 2022, in Taylor. Norris was born July 19, 1929, in Thorndale.

Stephen Charles Tucek 61, of Taylor, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Stephen was born Feb.

Paula (Villanueva) Olguin, age 72, of Midland, passed away May 1, 2022, peacefully with her daughter, son and niece Gloria by her side at Midland Memorial Hospital after a long battle with kidney disease, short battle with liver disease and an amputation after an incident in January.

On April 28, the Taylor City Council recognized National Police Week, May 11-17, and Peace Officers Memorial Day, May 15, with a proclamation to honor fallen officers and their families. In 2021, there were 609 officers killed in the line of duty. In the history of the Taylor Police Department, there have been two officers killed in the line of duty. HUTTO — A kitchen fire Wednesday morning was put out before causing too much damage. On May 11, a mobile home near Ray Elementary School in Hutto had what was described as a small fire in in its kitchen.

Taylor municipal government was recently awarded $5,555,330 in 2020 Community Development Block Grant-Mitigation Fund (CDBG-MIT) from the Texas General Land Office. The grant, which partially funds the intended projects, is the highest grant amount ever awarded to the City of Taylor.
